"Woven Together" is a project close to my heart. It embodies community, echoing the Ubuntu philosophy of interconnectedness: "I am because we are."
Inspired by a community of Zimbabwean women deeply connected through traditional basket weaving, it explores how shared acts of labour or craftsmanship facilitate the exchange of words and the formation of tightly woven human connections.
This project reflects my own experience of storytelling and creating connections through small weaving workshops. I explored how creating a safe space and having a hands on activity could bring people closer—Developing a paper weaving technique became my way of translating these narratives from the workshops into a visual form, bridging graphic elements with textiles. Alongside a handmade book and several handwoven baskets, a woven A0 poster served as an early conceptual pitch, capturing the essence of my process in exploring weaving as both craft and connection.
